HOW TO MAKE A BED:
1. Start with a
good quality mattress and box spring. Most mattresses over ten years old are
ready to be replaced. Then dress the bed as follows:
2. Mattress Pad
– to protect the mattress
3.
Mattress
Enhancer – options are deluxe extra thick mattress pad, or featherbed, or wool
mattress pad
4. 100% Natural
Fiber Sheets – Egyptian Cotton, Beachwood and Bamboo are the best. I guarantee they will wrinkle but
comfort is the priority and you can’t see wrinkles when you are sleeping.
5. Sleeping
Pillows – Good Down Pillows are all down – no feathers – and will last for
years and years if a pillow protector is used and if they are laundered every
two years. We suggest Leblanc Down Wash. We sell all the LeBlanc products and have used them all at home. From our personal experience we can highly reccomend them. If you don't want to wash your Down Pillows or Comforter yourself we reccomend Blanc Plume Fine French Laundry in Kansas City. Poly
fill pillows should be replaced every two-three years.
6. Natural
Fiber Duvet Cover - Remember - Natural Fibers (cotton, linen, beechwood, bamboo) breathe and are washable. We carry many beautiful choices that are decorative and
functional.
7. Comforter –
Choices include Down, Wool and Silk. We sell all three and the choice is an
individual one. We talk to customers about their preferences to help them make
the right choice.
8. Matelasse/Coverlet - This can double as the top of bed
treatment and a blanket with the comforter for extra cold nights or by itself
in warm weather.
9. Shams: European, King, Queen, Standard –
Creativity is a key. We do lots of different styles, sizes and fabrics.
10. Bed skirt/
Box Spring Cover – More Creativity.
11. Decorative
Pillows – Put the whole look together and then play with pillows to
get the right accents and quantity. When it comes to Decorative Pillows on a bed LESS IS MORE. One to Three beautiful pillows is sufficient. It is nice to have a wardrobe of Pillows that change with the seasons.
12. Throw - A throw at the foot of the bed is the final statement. It adds a touch of color that can pull everything together and, comes in handy for those delicious naps.
